Isn't It Ironic?

Via Nick Cohen:

A message from Rushdie: "I've always liked Stewart and Colbert but what on earth was Cat Yusuf Stevens Islam doing on that stage? If he's a "good Muslim" like Kareem Abdul-Jabbar then I'm the Great Pumpkin. Happy Halloween."

i·ro·ny
a. Incongruity between what might be expected and what actually occurs: "Hyde noted the irony of Ireland's copying the nation she most hated" (Richard Kain).
b. An occurrence, result, or circumstance notable for such incongruity.

From the Liberal hypocrites over at TPM:
"Cat Stevens Appearance at Sanity Rally Rankles Right Wingers"

Conservative bete noir Yusuf Islam (a.k.a. Cat Stevens) made a guest appearance at the Comedy Central rally today, inspiring an instant backlash from at least one right winger, a group fond of accusing the musician of sympathizing with terrorists

If Cat Stevens/Yusef Islam had appeared at a right wing rally you can be sure these same liberals would be outraged and spewing forth vitriol at those "evil Conservatives " for embracing the singer/songwriter who ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS supported and condoned the fatwa against Salmon Rushdie, the iconic writer who liberals once embraced as their hero but have now thrown under the bus - or perhaps I should say- under the "Peace Train".

The Liberal outrage of the 80's towards Cat Stevens has been replaced by the Liberal outrage of 2010 towards Conservatives for expressing the same outrage towards Cat Stevens today that liberals once expressed so vociferously towards Cat Stevens.

Isn't It Ironic?
