Will The Real Hooded Man Please Stand Up

Every human being has his own particular web of associations for identifying and interpreting reality, which, most often, instinctively and unthinkingly, he superimposes on every set of circumstances. Frequently, however, those external circumstances do not conform with, or fit, the structure of our webs, and then we can misread the unfamiliar reality, and interpret its elements incorrectly…
— Ryszard Kapuscinski, “Travels with Herodotus” (2007)

Errol Morris is an incredible documentary filmmaker who is intimately familiar with the power and seduction of pictures, images and their ability to reinforce the truth or create a false truth. He has written a thought provoking piece on pictures, images, seeing, believing and truth.

It is said that seeing is believing, but often it’s the other way around. We do not form our beliefs on the basis of what we see; rather, what we see is determined by our beliefs. We see not what is there, but rather what we want to see or expect to see.

Californication........................Here I Cum :>)

"Californication" is a dark, raunchy, twisted, comedy loaded with sex and filled with heart. For all those reasons, and more, it is destined to be one of the most hated or most loved series on cable.

David Duchovny plays Hank Moody, a disillusioned writer, suffering from writers block and lost in a spiritual black hole.

Karen, the woman he loves, his longtime girlfriend and mother of his daughter Becca, had screwed around on him, at the same his book was turned into a soulless lightweight Hollywood feature film. His descent into drugs, meaningless sex and the dark night of Soul, is Hank's way of dealing with the betrayal he experienced, not just from his Karen, but also from Hollywood. Lonely, lost, hurt, angry, compelling, disillusioned, unapologetically honest, he is unexpectedly forced to deal with his demons in a way he could have never imagined.

But you can read all the various story description elsewhere, at the end of the day, Hank Moody is David Duchovny at his very best----funny, dark, understated, offbeat, oddball, intellectual, at times profound, and always deeply charming.

I had the pleasure of meeting David years ago in Vancouver, and later in LA with his beautiful wife Tea Leonie. At that time, I repped one of tv's best cinematographers, John Bartley, who had created the dark moody imagery that defined X-Files visually. I had long been was a fan of David's work as Denis/Denise on "Twin Peaks" and in the series Red Shoe Diaries, in which he played the uber sexy narrator, Jake. And, I was completely smitten with the character of Fox Muldaur. X-Files remains one of my all time top ten favorite shows.

Having worked in Hollywood for years, I know first had that sometimes meeting an actor can be disillusioning. Reality doesn't always measure up to the fantasy.

In meeting David, I can honestly say that the reality was much better! He is every bit as good looking in person, as well as charming, funny, extremely smart, ( dare I say cerebral) hard working, talented, and one helluva a nice guy. I spent two very enjoyable hours sitting on his lap (pre-Tea Leoni) at the Sutton Place in Vancouver.

"Californication" plays to his strengths, has a great cast, top notch acting, superb writing, and high quality directing. It is sure to be the most talked about show this season.

One City, Four Girls, Lots of Sex............and Mr. Big!

"Sex and the City" , a smart and sassy comedy premiered in the
summer of 1998,becoming an instant hit.

Defining a new breed of woman, it was raw, honest, sexy, relevant, topical, and became a cultural phenomenon.

One City, Four Girls, Lots of Sex, and Six Seasons later, the series reached its climax.

I put away the shoes, the dresses, and the bags, and said a tearful goodbye to my four friends, as I sipped one last cosmo.

Today, it's time to buy a new pair of jimmy choo's, a sexy black dress, pull out my red Birkin and dust off the Martini glasses.

According to Tinseltown's favorite trade magazine, Variety,

New Line Cinema is getting in bed with HBO on “Sex and the City.”

After much foreplay, the feature version of the long-running HBO series is gearing for a fall start, with New Line near a deal to finance and distribute

The girls are back...and so is Mr. Big!

FABULOUS!
